It may happen I guess. Its getting bigger and bigger with every PPV and its getting much more well knowned in the media, but im getting sick of people debating which organization is better (not that you are). People need to understand that its all MMA and that its all entertaining to watch. I like both Pride and UFC i am just much more knowlegable when it come to UFC. All MMA kicks ass regaurdless of the organization.

You are correct, this is not a thread of which is better. I would love to see them both continue to grow. But I just feel that the UFC is going to grow faster than the Pride Organization. It seems to be on a downward slide right now while the UFC is bursting at the seams.

Well I don't see how you can disagree. The Pride Fighting has lost a lot of sponsors after being tied to the Japanese Mafia and the UFC is taking off like never before. I just see it as the natural course of things.

Well in the U.S.A. UFC of course is the dominate MMA orgainization. The last big main stream of new fans to MMA was from the Ulitimate Fighter series that sparked all these new fans. The average fan that was turned onto MMA due to TUF doesnt even know about Pride really. The only set back I see for Pride is that to become more popular among Americans they must come to the U.S.A. more. The thing is when they have an event like in Vegas or wherever it is not the real Pride everyone is seeing. They alter the rules because Pride's rules from Japan will not fly here in the USA. Thus we are seeing a whole different product of Prides when they come to the states. So it kind of puts Pride in a weird spot. If UFC and Pride were to get their crap together and do some cross fighting it'd be great for both organizations as well as give us some dream matches. I think thats one reason Dana seems a little skeptical as he does not want his big fan base being exposed to Pride.

I'm sure that we all agree that to see them start cross fighting would be FANTASIC!!!

I was so bummed when I found out that Liddell-Siliva was canceled.

The UFC will outgrow Pride simple because they have more room to grow. Pride is already big and mainstream in Japan so there is no place for them to go there other than down. UFC is exploding in the US and Canada which is a much bigger and more profitable market than Japan. Once UFC hits mainstream status in the US than its game over and they will be the biggest in the world.

i dont really see how having events here is going to help them at all..we wont see the usual show we are used too..and i dont know aht difference it makes if you are ordering a ppv..whether or not it takes place in japan or the u.s. isnt going to make a difference to someone sitting on there couch..i just dont see how it helps pride...i think the best think they could do..and its kinda melodramatic..and maybe a even a little wwe even..but sakibara should just grab a couple of fighters...like fedor cro cop maybe shogun or wand..just some guys that the hard core fans know..buy some tickets to a ufc event..prefferably in the front row somewhere, where the cameras cant miss them..and if they have a belt it should be over their shoulder..they could maybe even talk some shit..sometimes you gotta pick a fight...

thats what i would do if i was the owner of pride..id make sure my fighters were outside in the casino signing autographs and taking pics..alot of people wouldnt know who they were but enough would to draw a crowd..when i went to ufc 57 i saw josh barnett satnding over in a corner..and no one approached him..when me and my girl went over to get a pic with him he was shocked..he was like "YEAH ill take a pic"..he used to be the champ..people just forget..sakibara just needs to get these guys exposure through the ufc somehow..i gaurentee you alot of people didnt know who wand was and had no idea about pride until dana brought him into the cage to challenge chuck..that was the best move pride ever made and dana fed right into it..and you could tell chuck had no idea it was coming....he looked real nervous..and i bet he chewed dana out for springing it on him..

i dissagree because i think we are going to be oversaturated with the ufc after awhile..and its a comon topic that the divisons lack depth..so after awhile fans are going to get sick of penn hughs 6...and sylvia arlovski 8...and tito liddell 9...they need to slow down..im just a fan of quality over quantity..we had a huge discussion about this on another site so im all talked out over it already but thats how i feel..pride may have lost sponsers but they still sell out arenas that hold 50 thousand people..the fans will keep pride going...the way the ufc is going right now its going to be stale imo by the end of next year..i havnt been happy about a fight card from them since ufc 57...to me the events have just been lackluster...if you mean that they will continue to get bigger and become more mainstream..i guess you are right about that..but at what cost??? id rather the sport stay small and be consistantly good than be huge and lack what made me fall in love with it in the first place..i guess im a little bias right now..i have always been a fan of both but im more of a pride fan these days..and that is where i plan to fight...

Yeah kinda like I was saying because when Pride fights in the US it is not actually Pride we are seeing... it's still the same fighters but not actual Pride rules. Pride sending some fighters to pick a fight isnt a bad idea, it will pressure Dana more and more and make him look like a puss if he doesnt stand up and sign a fight. Then what they could do is is have a UFC fighter go fight at a Pride event for 1 ppv then the next one have a Pride fighter fight at a UFC event and so on. It would expose not just both organizations but whats more important and that is the fighters that some fans do not know about.

yeah do it for mma..thats kinda why i like the ifl..and i think it could eventually be the organization to look out for in the future..the guy that owns it is a mma fan with money..and he wants to see the sport suceed..and he wants to see its athletes do well..

plus how bad ass would it be to see cro cop in the audience with his owgp belt...maybe they would go to him to ask his predictions for the main event..and he would be like i dont really care who wins..im here to let chuck lidell or tim sylvia that if they ever really want to prove them selves to come see me??if that would light a fire under their asses i dont know what would..then all the fans would see it and be like damn who is this guy...go to youtube.com type cro cop hl..and BANG "damn this guy is amazing"..."he would crush sylvia or chuck..i wanna see that"...and then the shits all stirred up...dana cant duck every fighter in pride..he cant use the excuse that mirko just lost either...

You have a very good point here as well. What the hell are we gonna see next. UFC keeps having to have rubber matches because lack of fighters that are actually ready to compete for the title. Nobody in the LHW division is on liddels level... not even Tito but he was the best they had to throw at him and well they know it will do good buy rates. But what happens after that??? We dont see Liddel fight for a while unless they just throw him a can. That's why they really need to start doing some cross organization fighting. I mean it's only gonna help everybody with more exposure but Dana knows he owns MMA in the US and I just think he doesnt want to get into all of that yet when hes banking right now.

rashad evans
forrest giffin
mike bisbing
matt hamill

some up-and-comers they just need time
