Franklin gives all his credit for his victories to God and says God gives him all his strength and power.I guess God was on cofee break during Frabklins fight. I find it very ridiculus that people put so much faith in God when it come to sports. If you put so much faith into God making you win a fight whats the point of even training surely the power of God is much more powerful then conditoning, striking skills, wresteling skills etc. . Im not trying to bag on religon in fact im christian but I find it ridiculus that people see there outcome in a fight in God's hands. The more talented fighter always wins thats just how it goes GOD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! I think religion is fine but people let it run there lives far too much IMO. For the people who are religous think about it this way... Your praying for God to help you win a game. Dosent that come off as a little selfish? Prey for peace prey for a stop to hunger but dont prey on a foolish game. I know some of you may be annoyed that I made a semi-religous thread but I think its kind of good escape from the average fighting post and I wanted to get my opinion across.

HAH! No doubt!... Like god only looks out for the one guy, and not the other. If god decides the outcome, someone should be cheeking the bookies for odd things like 'the big G.O.D.' or 'Bright White Kahuna' placing bets.

I know what you mean MMA1990, although I think that most people moreless thank God for their abilities.

And brvhrt no offense but why would God favor Rich? If the God you believe in is the same God of the Christian faith, then that would make no sense. Rich is a human, Anderson is a human, both created by God (in theory). So what makes Rich so special that he deserves to come back stronger? Everyone has their own opinion, as biased as it may sound, but I think it is common sense that God would not play a part in the fight aside from keeping them safe from death or life threatening injury, unless of course its there time haha. God gave them each the ability to train and the talent to fight, but I don't see how anyone, Christian or not, Franklin fan or not, can not see that it is up to the fighters themselves to decide how they use their abilities in a fight. Anderson used his abilities better than Rich last night, it wasn't that God favored Anderson, or that God wanted Rich to lose so he can come back stronger. Although I could be wrong, because none of us know what God thinks or whatever, but I think common sense will support my arguement. But think what you want I'm not trying to prove you wrong or humiliate you, I'm just giving my opinion in response to yours.

I see nothing wrong with thanking God for a victory...
just as long as you don't go into the fight thinking you can't loose because of him.

All I said was that God can work in Victory as well as defeat....dont read to much in to it. IF you dont think that God can bring back a fighter that loses stronger then what he was, that is ok, I am not going to argue till I am blue in the face about it.

Thers nothing wrong with thanking God for a victory. I dont see why people have to take these comments so literally. Religion is an endless arguement so theres no point in arguing about it. We should all just let it go.

I know man read the first sentence in my post...the only reason I quoted you is because a lot of people think that way, and I wanted to share my opinion on it in general, I wasn't trying to single you out. I ain't blue in the face about it either, I just like trying to get my point across without having to go back and spell it out for people who don't understand it. PLus I can't sleep and I'm bored so I typed a lot.

The first sentence I told you to read is my main reply, I don't think guys thank God for the win, they thank God for their abilities and not letting them die, it's just too hard to think about saying all that after a tough fight.

i dont understand these fighters or other sports figures that think that god plays favorites, if we are all suposidly* god's children why would he/she or whatever pick 1 person or 1 team to be stronger then the other. its just rediculous

I have no problem with religion either but I'm on the same track as you.

They thank God when they win, never mention his name when they lose. And when they do win, they give God all the credit, it's something THEY did, the fighter (or whoever it is) deserves every bit of credit for winning, I mean sure it's not selfish, but c'mon fighters...take some credit.

I don't think they assume god had chosen them to win or anything. It's just having faith. Alot of people in drug/alcohol treatment turn religious just for the faith they feel

God could have let rich win if it was God's "will" it has to be his "will" because whatever his "will" is will happen, if it is God's "will" for rich to win the next fight against aderson than he will we don't know were only human God doesn't take coffee breaks he's always with us whether or not we realise it :)

they take alot of credit but the fighters realise it wasn't just them it was God who had a part in it that's why if they believe in God they thank him for it, the fighters get all the credit they need from the fans anyways

God often uses hard times like a fight loss to test their faith because Christians are tested sometimes by God and every day by life, people, and the world, not saying that's what it is but maybe franklin needed a loss we don't know were not God

When someone dose well, or they are talente in some aspect of life they thank God for the strength, knowledge and ability they have been blessed with. I am sure that after the fight Rich couldn't say much or have much to say for the fact he was crushed mentally and physically! God works through wins and along the way you have to take a lose. I feel that if you take anything for granted and for any instance ignore God (since He is to be first in your life) he will take whatever is drawing your attention from him so that you can refocus your priorities! Just my thoughts hope it kinda makes sense and God Bless.
