Anderson Silva is most likely going to walk through Thallis Lates so I am going on that assumption. His only four losses have come by one disqualification, a lost decision, and two submissions. It seems submitting him is the only chance an opponent has as no one wants to stand and trade with him. Keeping in mind that he is a bbj black belt, it will take a top shelf bjj practitioner to beat him. He has already faced very good submission specialists, Olympic wrestlers, and great strikers and beat them all. Maia is in my opinion the best submission artist in his weight class, and perhaps the best in the entire MMA world today. He will likely be the next in line for a title shot, although he might have to go through Nate Marquart first (which is not a given that he would win that). Assuming he faces Silva sometime in the future, I believe he is The Spider’s greatest threat.
