After that display from Renzo (asking Matt Hughes for help up, wtf?) last night....who is left in the Gracie empire?? Royler Gracie? Kron Gracie? Kyra Gracie??

Deep down Dana knows the Gracie family will always "have a place" in MMA/UFC....but what is the point of signing them for multi-deal fights if they continually come up short? Its obvious the sport has evolved and the Gracies have not. Their striking is poor, poor, shitty, poor and their wrestling/grappling is average at best...lets not even talk about cardio  (smh @ that Rolles Gracie jr./Joey Beltran debacle)

I think Kron and Kyra are the only Gracies under 30 who might still remotely have a chance

If only Ryan hadn't had such anger management issues, I'm fairly sure he would have become the most successful Gracie ever. He looked so promising when he fought in Pride with his Gracie JJ and that vicious Belfort like standup.

Roger is under 30 and his BJJ is the best in the world, he could still do something, but I dont think a Gracie will ever be a champ again

i liked renzo in that fight, and asking for matts help is just the respect he has earned and he would of done the same or hughs.

I like most the gracies except royce (cant stand him, he is just the poster child that started believing in his own tailored made up hype )

p.s, kyra is frickin awesome

Odds are: Yes.

There are simply too many of them being taught bjj/ and now mma from birth to not end up with some future greats. They already have quite a few prospects for the next few years.

The catch: They have to eventually leave and train somewhere else.

remember...time flies.

we are now in a new generation of MMA fighters who werent around for the early UFC days and probably wouldnt recognize Royce Gracie in a crowd full of ********.

More young MMA lovers coming up have no idea about the early UFC days. The majority of us are in our 30's and 40's

It's interesting to hear that. I was also thinking the average age demographic of MMA fans might be rising.

Well if they stop fighting Matt Hughes that would be a start, but the conditioning and stand-up parts would really help. BJJ does not have as many top people as wrestling for instance becuase people have learned how to defend it. Every wrestler in the UFC is taught how to defend BJJ, they might not be proficient offensively but they have other skills (striking, wrestling, muay thai, etc) that they use to cause damage. Simply BJJ no matter how good will not get you to the top anymore, you will need another offensive weapon in your arsenal. Don't see why they can't do it but special athletes like AS and GSP and Brock make technique a little bit less important and when those athletes have the technique its greatness.

Gracies never was great to begin with. The early UFC's was like running track against somebody with no arms and legs or playing chess against somebody that is blind. Congratulations you can beat guys in ju jitsu that have never done ju jitsu in their lifes. Their like fish out of water now everybody else knows their secret.

The Gracie name has reached the summit and will never again be as acclaimed as it once was. Royce obviously made the name famous in America due to his early UFC days. The only stardom the name will achieve now is from students who have learned from them and attended their schools and who have the abillity to put the knowledge into use. I believe Gracie BJJ is most likely the best, and if the right person learns it they will be dominating.....boring to watch, but dominating nevertheless.

Ryan in my opinion was the best Gracie all round, as obviously all gracies have/had a good ju jitsu game Rickson especially, but there standup sucked balls with the exception of Ryan, who had a good level of standup although we didn't see him against many good standup guys, but he definatly was the most promising since the early success of Royce etc. I feel there may be a Gracie that can be on this level again one day, but for now their success will be purely through their name and training of other fighters e.g G.S.P, the Diaz brothers etc

yeah but are they as hot as her :thumb02:
Maybe one of the only people i'd willingly let take the mount or get me in a triangle choke during practice, lol
