I checked the power rankings on Sherdog and here are the votes for the best fighters of each year out of every weight class.

1993: Royce Gracie, Runner up: Ken Shamrock
1994: Royce Gracie, Runner up: Dan Severn
1995: Ken Shamrock, Runner up: Royce Gracie
1996: Masakatsu Funaki, Runner up: Dan Severn
1997: Dan Severn, Runner up: Masakatsu Funaki
1998: Dan Severn, Runner up: Mark Coleman
1999: Dan Severn, Runner up: Vladimir Matsuyenko
2000: Dan Severn, Runner up: Renato Sobral
2001: Dan Severn, Runner up: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
2002: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Runner up: Ricco Rodriguez
2003: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Runner up: Fedor Emelianenko
2004: Travis Wiuff, Runner up: Fedor Emelianenko
2005: Wanderlei Silva, Runner up: Jeremy Horn

I'm stunned as to why Fedor didn't win it in 2004 and 2005. He is way more better of a fighter than Travis Wiuff. How did Travis Wiuff get there. Oh and this proves that Dan Severn is the best ever in MMA you all know.

That's just one persons opinion. I for one would change some of the names. Like Fedor winning in 2004 and 2005.

It isn't one persons opinion I think a lot of the loyal MMA fans voted thats why Wiuff won 04 instead of Fedor. But honestly Fedor definitely deserves 2004 and runner up of 2005 as well. Plus he beat Nogueira in 03 the year Nogueira is named number 1.

Dan Severn is a BEAST. I loved it when he stunned his oponets with his suplexes

In his prime he was killed by one of the top heavyweights today in PRIDE, Mark Coleman. Coleman beat him up in 2 minutes then choked him worse then Fedor on Fujita.
