If you ask me this is the division is one of the strongest the UFC has to offer now. I wouldnt say as strong as the welterweight division but this division has an endless amount of talent.

I dont think there's been a top 10 lightweight thread on this forum so what is your ranking?

1. Sean Sherk
2. Mark Hominick
3. Kenny Florian
4. Joe Stevenson
5. Hermes Franca
6. Yves Edwards
7. Joe Lauzon
8. Spencer Fisher
9. Melvin Guillard
10. Tyson Griffin

Honorable Mentions: Jamie Varner, Jens Pulver, Jorge Gurgel, Duane Ludwig

Seeing as kenFlo is fighting for the championship he must be 1 or 2.

Fitch will be good chance one day. Pulver will come back. Joe daddy will be tough, Melvin also.

Quite a stacked division that. cant see Sherk losing in a hurry.

I don't think Ken Flo's Strong enough or has good enough cardio to be #2.

LMFAO....again Jon Fitch is NOT a LW.

He's 6ft tall and he's fought Wilson Gouveia (LHW fighter) for crying out loud (lol)....

Anyways.

1) Sherk
2) Stevenson
3) Florian
4) Homminick
5) Franca
6) Guillard
7) Griffin
8) Fisher
9) Yves (although the UFC has released him)
10) Stout

side note: if Penn drops down I will immediately rank him #2 and he would pwn Sherk

That's the opinion of other people why he should get a title shot, I personally think Hominick is more deserving and more talented than Florian, which is why I have him ranked at #2.

I also dont understand why people are ranking Griffin over Hominick, Griffins fight was impressive but he basically fought garbage.

"Yves (although the UFC has released him)"

Why did they release Edwards? He was certainly a good fighter that would have brought a lot to the division.

The UFC released Yves? I thought he was going to be at UFC 64? I sure hope not, Yves is awesome and probably would have beat Stevenson if not for a questionable stoppage.

1. Sherk (went 5 rounds with Hughes at 170, will win the title)
2. Homminick (should be fighting Sherk at ppv...)
3. Florian (good BJJ, good elbows, and aggressive)
4. Fisher (i really like him, plus it helps being from the Miletich camp)
5. Franca (well-rounded, well-conditioned, and very composed0
6. Griffin (very, very, powerful. enough said...)
7. Guilard (great striker, but 1-dimensional)
8. Stevenson (great wreslter, but like Guilard, 1-dimensional)
9. Edwards (stupid if the UFC realy did release him)
10. Lauzon (don't know much about him but he KTFO dana's golden boy Pulver, and thats enough to make my list. he utterly dominated Pulver. Pulvers takedown defense is very good and he went through it and then KO'd the iron chin of Pulver)
